It had been 5 years since I had been in the recording studio, and I knew it was time to do it once again. My husband Jeff, has been very intrumental in helping me accomplish this next milestone in my musical career. I had many doubts about whether I could swing this, but as you can see...here it is! So many things have changed in my life and I think this recording reflects this.
The first thing many people will notice, is that my sister Jackie is not on this recording. Rest assured, the Quintana Sisters are still together, we are just working on different projects right now. After I finish this CD, we will get ready to record a Quintana Sisters Christmas CD, so be looking for updates on that!
Secondly, the music on this CD is almost all romantic music. I have always loved the older romantic music, like that of the trios like Los Panchos. With the revival of this music by pop icon Luis Miguel, I realized that I'm not the only one! Most of the songs on this CD were popular in the 1940's and 1950, the World War II era.
When picking the songs, I went back and listened to music done by Javier Solis, Eydie Gorme, and many other greats. I picked the songs that I loved, and began creating the arrangements. On this CD, you will hear guitar, mandolin, and voice.
On December 5, 1997 I lost one of the artists who helped mold my vocal style, Santa Fe's legendary singing diva, Genoveva Chavez. Since I began singing in 1985, Genoveva had always been one of my biggest supporters. A couple of years ago as her health began failing her, she expressed to my sister and I that she wanted us to continue in her place on the stage. One of her most beloved songs "Hombres No Deben de Llorar" is on this CD, as well as the song she always requested me to sing, "Amor Eterno".
The title of the CD is "Eternamente" which means Eternally in English. I chose this title to reflect a couple things. The first is the symbol of love eternal reflected in this music. Also, I hope it reflects the timeless beauty of music, and the feelings of love it can evoke.
You will notice that the music is done in a very "natural" sound. In the mixing, we used very little reverb and few special effects in an effort to remain true to the time period these songs were sung and recorded originally.
I wanted this CD to be a special project for me. I have done all the artwork and design for the cover and for the web page. I've had a lot of fun with it, and I truely hope you enjoy the fruits of my efforts! Thank you for visiting my site, and I'd love to hear from you!
Eternamente,
Amanda
